The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on pupils, parents, professionals in the learning community and others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.



Evidence 1: Action Research Paper – Reflection and Action Plan for Educational Change




Rationale 1: When I did research I was trying to see if online learning would have a positive effect on students’ grades. I did not get the results I had hoped for but doing this research made me really look at the way I was teaching and what improvements I can make in the future. This research made me do more research than I normally would do when I am making changes or finding things for a class. I was able to see what results other professionals were able to get from research that was similar to mine. Also the action research forced me to even reflect more on my teaching practices as I had to put what I found down on paper. I am always looking to improve my teaching and I do put down what worked and what did not on my class notes but this made me reflect more.

The action research process really made aware of all the professional literature that is available for me to use. By researching that literature gave me a good awareness of what I could maybe expect when I did my research.

For the action research, I looked at a lot professional literature on the topic I was doing my research on. It was interesting because some of the research supported what I had hoped to find and others did not. Now that I have a better idea on how to find this professional literature, I am more apt to use it more in the future as I want to see if anyone else has done what I plan on doing.

I have always reflected on what I teach and constantly writing down notes on papers to improve what I am teaching. In this action research paper, I did not necessary get the results I had hoped for but I did find some things that I did think went very well and I think in the future that they will help the students reach the results I had hoped for in this research.
